"The journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step." Lao-tsu Chinese Philosopher
Transitions are a great time to begin anew. The beginning of a new season, the start of a new year or school year, the kick off to a vacation or the return home; all of these passages and others are ideal times to reboot our lives.
At these transitions, habits have not yet set into place, so you can establish the habits you want!. Carve out the new in the middle of the old chaos. Create and be just how you want in each part of your day. Buy and fix things along the way. Ignore the chaos. Focus on the task at hand and make it lovely. Don't wait til the old has dissolved or you have fixed it. Begin NOW!!!!!!!
If you want to create a new life, or part of your life, establish conditions that inspire new feelings. Simple changes can motivate you to be bolder, braver, more empowered and more able to discover solutions to what troubles you.
Keep a broad view on your life and then tackle the problems in each part. For example, if a messy house is
draining your energy and enthusiasm, do not start a major overhaul by diving into an overstuffed closet!!! Doing so will exhaust you and make you feel worse in no time flat. To begin your overhaul, buy or pick a bouquet of fresh flowers and put them in a beautiful vase on the kitchen table. The inspiration will provide energy and enthusiasm to tackle the rest.
Plan a weeks worth of healthy meals. Fill the fridge with foods that you love; seafood, roasts, pasta, chicken, burgers, salad makings, favorite veggies. Buy a loaf of freshly made bread. Place some seasonal fruits in a bowl. Throw away the junk. Quickly straighten drawers and cabinets as you unpack your delicious foods. Your kitchen feels more inspiring now.
Throw away old, ratty workout clothes. Pick 2 favorite outfits. Vow to start the next day with a walk, a yoga session, a half-hour at the gym. Breathe deep, whatever you do. In with the good vibes, out with the old.
Buy some inspiring magazines (home, fashion, fitness, puzzles). Pick up a good read at the library. Make a date for lunch with a friend. Talk fashion, new business ventures, summer vacation ideas or new books. Keep the conversation positive and interesting. Talk up your new life, ideas, interests and the new book you are reading. You might get some feedback that benefits you and motivate your friend at the same time.
Create a structure to your day that includes everything that is good for you and what you want to do. Be the heroine of your own movie. Play the part well. Imagination helps you create the new. Don't forget time for a luxurious bath, evening walk, daydreaming on the porch or meditation session at the end of your day. Unwind. Close out the day with gratitude and prayers.
You have established a foundation to tackle more difficult issues. You have changed the vibration around you. When you create a feeling that lifts you, some things will automatically solve themselves.
Find a way to make your daily life work with the greatest ease you can. When you feel beauty and peace around you, it's easier to extend those feelings into the rest of your life. Create the beauty FIRST. Create some order FIRST. Create peace FIRST. Create a routine and system that makes you feel good FIRST. Then tackle the more difficult issues from that new feeling.
Whether you are climbing out of the pits, finding ways to live well in the middle of chaos or simply taking your life up a notch, start with beauty, focus and clarity. The journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step.
